How to Reach

Kosice is situated right at the heart of the region of East Slovakia. Kosice has its own international airport, rail connections direct from all Central European capitals (Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, Vienna), and it is connected up to the main European road and motorway networks.

By Airplane

The international airport in Kosice is just 6 kilometres south of the city centre. There are regular flight connections with the Slovak capital city Bratislava (CSA) and international air connections with Prague (CSA), Vienna (Austrian), Warsaw (LOT), London/Luton (Wizz), Doncaster/Sheffield (Wizz), Bristol (Wizz), Istanbul (Turkish) and Kiev (CSA). The airport is connected to the city centre and the main train and bus stations by public bus number 23 every hour. The bus journey to the city centre takes around 15 minutes and you can check the timetable here. You can buy tickets in a ticket machine placed in front of the airport building (0,60€) or directly from the driver (1€). You can use a taxi service (we recommend) to get to the centre. The price of the taxi service to the downtown starts at 10 €.

You can also fly to Budapest Airport and continue to Kosice by bus or train. There is a direct shuttle bus from Budapest Airport to Kosice, tickets can be bought as part of your flight ticket. Ticket for shuttle bus can be bought also separately from CassoviaExpress and AirTrans.

By Train

Train connections from Vienna, Bratislava and Prague will take you right to Kosice city centre. The comfortable journey by EC/IC train from Prague takes 8 hours, while from Bratislava it is just under 5 hours. If you travel at night, you can use the couchette or sleeping cars.

Kosice is also linked by rail to Budapest, with two direct EC/IC train connections – morning and afternoon, with the journey taking around 3.5 hours.
