Interests in the WPT Area

The RFID Technologies group is part of the Microwave Technologies group of the Institute of Microwave and Photonic Engineering at Graz University of Technology (Austria). The group works on radio frequency identification (RFID) topics. RFID is a fast growing technology and paves the way for various new applications in low-power contactless communication systems. Additionally, RFID plays an important role for various companies in the Graz region. Approximately 50% of all RFID chips in global use have been developed in the Graz region.

What do you expect the Action can bring to your entity?

The RFID Technologies group of the Institute of Microwave and Photonics Engineering will benefit from its participation in the COST IC1301 Action. In particular, the Action will enhance the cooperation between the RFID Technologies group and groups from other European universtities and companies, e.g., by organizing short term scientific missions. In addition, the Group can widen its reputation in the scientific and industrial community. Also, the Group can further grow by submitting (and winning) joint research projects with other partners of the Action.

What do you expect you can bring to the COST Community?

The RFID Technologies group has a lot of expercience in wireless power transfer systems, e.g., in high frequnecy and ultra high frequency RFID systems. The Group actively cooperates with various important companies in the Graz region that deal will WPT systems. Thus, the RFID Technologies group can provide its knowledge to the other partners in the Action and can foster cooperations in the Action with companies in the Graz region.
